Happiness Is A Choice - 5 Ways to Have Happiness Now
We have all come across people that look to be happy. It is possible that you have thought that the people are naturally happy, or they are very lucky to have an easy life, or that they have parents who are very caring. In most cases, this is not true.
Happy people make certain choices concerning their behavior and thinking. Happy people deliberately chose to behave and think in ways that lead to happiness. People who are unhappy are unconsciously thinking and behaving in ways which lead to unhappiness.
The following are the five choices that happy people make:
1. Optimism
Happy people see a half-full glass but unhappy people are always pessimistic. They see the glass as half empty. Thinking with optimism is not an accident; it is a choice concerning the way you see life. The people who are optimistic are in that way because they decide to be optimistic. Instead of giving room to ego to take charge of their lives with all its gloom and doom, happy people allow their adult being to take control. Happy people know that their thinking creates the creative process that results in manifestation. With positive thinking, they are able to behave in ways that make them achieve success.
2. Kindness
Happy people make the decision to be compassionate and kind towards themselves and other people. Happy people know the best ways to treat everyone. Happy people are always quick to be kind to everyone because they realize that the key to happiness is the ability to care of others. They are very caring, kind and compassionate all the time. They chose this way of life, and the result is happiness.
3. Forgiveness
Happy people do not keep resentment against others, even those people who have hurt them in the past. They have the understanding that resentment cost is unhappiness. Therefore, they are willing to always forgive. Happy people do not consider the bad behavior of others; they do not get the feelings to respond in a similar way that unhappy people behave. Happy people are always compassionate towards others and do not rush in judging others.
4. Acceptance
Happy people are aware of what they are able to control and what they are not able to control. They are always living by the Serenity Prayer, changing everything that they have power to change and accepting the things that they are unable to change. Unhappy people always make efforts to change circumstances and people and are not willing to accept the lack of control. Because of these, they are frustrated always. Happy people know that they are unable to control outcomes and other people; therefore they pay attention to what they are able to control, which is their own behavior and thinking. What leads to inner peace and happiness is acceptance of what they can control and what they cannot.
5. Gratitude
Finally, happy people always show gratitude for everything that they have, instead of complaining about what they do not have. They are aware of all the many blessings and gifts that they come across and they always show gratitude for things happening in their lives everyday: the force they eat, the beauty of nature, the smile on the face of a friend, the ability to talk, see, walk and hear. Even the majority of disabled people may not be blessed with eyesight, speech, hearing, or legs, but are always happy because they concentrate on what they can do instead of what they can do and what they have, instead of paying attention to what they lack in life.
If you are interested in being happy, then you need to know that happiness comes through your behavior and thinking, and not because of the same happiness. If you decide to be conscious of the fact that behavior and thoughts make you happy, you will definitely be a happy person, no matter the situation. Happiness is your choice and it does not happen by chance.
